Furnishing of a townhouse in Gerakini, Halkidiki

A modern home in a great location in Halkidiki — freshly completed and completely empty. The task: to furnish it quickly and tastefully, while staying within a limited budget. We carefully thought through every detail to create a cozy and functional interior with character, without unnecessary expenses.

The house was purchased during the construction stage, and as it neared the final finishing phase, we became fully involved in the process. Since the client came through our real estate agency, we had agreed early on — even during the purchase — that we would also handle the furnishing. However, the project quickly expanded beyond furniture selection, and we took on a number of consultative roles as well.

Together with the client, we chose the colors for the tiles, the walls, and even the kitchen — although it was provided by the developer. As for the furnishing, we naturally went beyond simply “placing a sofa and a wardrobe.” Even the most stylish furniture loses its charm if the space around it feels empty. That’s why we proposed adding some wall decor: we used moldings, selected artwork, added accents and lighting. Finally, we completed the space with textiles and decorative touches — those small but essential details that tie everything together into a warm, cohesive, and vibrant interior.

Living room

We chose furniture in restrained gray tones with interesting and distinctive details. The sofa is very soft, and the fabric feels pleasant to the touch. Initially, we considered an L-shaped sofa, but ultimately opted for a combination with an armchair, making it a striking accent with its warm terracotta color. To add a source of soft lighting, we included a wall sconce that serves both practical and decorative purposes. The entire arrangement was tied together by a painting in similar tones. Once the curtains were added, the lounge area gained a complete, cozy, and inviting feel.

Opposite the sofa, we installed a 55-inch TV with Google Play — it became the focal point of the living area. Beneath it, we added a stylish TV stand that complements the interior and provides neat storage. A full-length mirror was placed nearby — both highly functional and a great way to visually expand the space, bringing in lightness and depth.

Though compact in appearance, the kitchen accommodates everything needed — including a built-in dishwasher, which adds daily convenience. Between the kitchen and the living area, we placed a dining table for six. Since the space is limited in width, we opted for slim chairs without armrests — practical, comfortable, and perfectly in tune with the overall style. Above the table hangs an atmospheric light fixture, casting a warm, inviting glow for cozy dinners at home.

Master bedroom

The bedrooms in this house are compact, so every decision regarding the layout required special attention. The master bedroom is located on the top, attic level — it boasts a spacious balcony and a stunning sea view. However, the sloped ceiling posed a design challenge, and we had to consider several layout options. Together with the client, we decided to position the bed sideways against the wall, facing the window. This not only allows for waking up to a view but also created space behind the headboard for a full wardrobe area. In this way, we made smart use of the lower ceiling zone.

As in all the bedrooms, we used blackout curtains in soothing shades. Near the balcony door, added a dresser into a niche, and above it, decorated the space with a painting and a decorative light fixture that can also be turned on in the evening to create subtle, ambient lighting in the room.

Bedroom 2

In the bedroom on the middle floor, we chose a fresh summer turquoise shade for the bed upholstery — adding brightness and lightness to the space. To decorate the wall and create visual interest, we used moldings. Originally, a symmetrical composition was planned, but the bed had to be shifted to the right, closer to the window, to allow the door to open freely. As a result, the wall design became asymmetrical: decorative wall sconces were placed nearby, providing soft evening light and a touch of classic elegance. To the left of the bed stands a long dresser with a facade that echoes the vertical rhythm of the moldings.

Opposite the bed stands a spacious wardrobe in a muted tone with built-in interior lighting. To visually lighten the structure, pull-out drawers were incorporated on the left side of the wardrobe, maintaining practical functionality without overwhelming the space. The ensemble is completed by a mirror in a natural-toned frame that harmoniously complements the wardrobe’s decorative shelves.

Children's bedroom

In homes with three or more bedrooms, it’s often a good idea to design one of the rooms with separate beds — it adds flexibility and makes the space more versatile. In the kids’ room, we echoed the turquoise shade used in the other bedroom on the same floor. Continuing the decorative language of the home, we added wall moldings and complemented the space with artwork. We also managed to fit in a spacious wardrobe and placed a desk opposite the beds. Naturally, each bed is accompanied by a charming wall sconce, adding a warm and cozy touch to the room.

Furnishing a home is not just about picking beautiful pieces — it’s a complex process made up of countless small but essential details. Proper, thoughtful furnishing simply isn’t possible without precise measurements, especially in spaces where every centimeter counts. Most of the time, we also create a 3D model in SketchUp to fully visualize the layout and avoid technical errors.

In this project, it was a good thing we got involved early on: we were able to coordinate with the electrician to add wall sconces, install extra outlets, and adjust their placements where needed. Although the wiring had already been done, the walls hadn’t yet been painted — so all the changes were made without extra costs for repainting.

Next came precise calculations for built-in wardrobes and other custom furniture, keeping in mind that production takes time. When we take on a project turnkey, we handle everything — from placing orders and coordinating deliveries to offering reliable craftsmen when needed. And if the property is being prepared for rental, we take care of the full setup: curtains, textiles, kitchenware, appliances, towels, decorative items, and all the finishing touches that make the space ready to live in from day one.
